The property under assessment is located outside the settlement of Karotis of the Municipal Unit of Lappaion, the Municipality and Regional Unit of Rethymno, the Region of Crete and specifically in the location of Loutra or Loutrakia. The Municipality of Lappaion was a municipality of the Prefecture of Rethymno, established with the Kapodistrias program from the merger of older communities in the area, which subsequently formed the municipal districts of the municipality. It operated during the period 1999-2010 when it was abolished with the implementation of the Kallikratis program and joined the new Municipality of Rethymno. It was located in the west of the Prefecture of Rethymno and had as its headquarters the village of Episkopi. Episkopi is a lowland settlement located in the northwestern part of the prefecture, approximately 12 km west of the city of Rethymno. Access to the settlement is via the Rethymno-Chania National Road and the Loutra-Episkopi Provincial Road. Karoti is a small settlement and seat of the homonymous community of the Municipality of Rethymno, which is 20.5 kilometers from Rethymno and two kilometers from Episkopi Lappaion. The land uses that prevail in the areas outside the settlement are mostly agricultural, with the existence of agricultural lands, and to a lesser extent residential, with the existence of scattered young houses, some of which are used as tourist investment properties, as well as professional, which is mainly focused on the Loutra-Episkopi Provincial Road.
