The last miller of Paros (Barba Artemis) who operated his mill in Lefkes died in 1996. The village got its name from the many poplars, ie the trees that used to exist in the site. The main road of the village, which leads to the center of Lefka, is whitewashed and paved, and is called Ramnos, because in the past a Ramnos tree dominated in the middle of this road. Residents removed it over time, to have better access to the village center.
