It is connected to major transport hubs, modern expressways with many kilometers of tunnels built in 2004 to meet the needs of the 2004 Olympic Games. The total area of the fish ladder is 17,652 sq.m. of which 5,606.94 sq.m. they include the large complex of three buildings used for auctions, handling centers and catch warehouses. Ice production facilities are also available for their maintenance. The largest transport hubs of Piraeus start from the area of the fish ladder, such as Schistos Avenue, Democracy Avenue that connects Tambouria with Perama, Petrou Ralli Avenue that crosses Kokkinia and Grigoriou Lambraki Avenue that crosses Korydallos.
